Creation Keepers Workshop Sept. 18 at St. Francis, Macon

The Diocese of Atlanta Commission on Environmental Stewardship will host a workshop for parish Creation Keepers and others interested from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, at St. Francis' Episcopal Church, 432 Forest Hill Road, Macon. Morning Prayer and an exploration of Franciscan spirituality and its meaning for creation will start the day. A $20 contribution per person is requested. RSVP to creationkeepers@episcopalatlanta.org.

Green churches to receive federal funds

The historical Unitarian Universalist Church in Savannah could use some updates.

The roofs on three of the church's four buildings off Troup Square are nearing the end of their useful lives. Insulation in the attic is looking rough. And the lighting could be using up more energy than necessary.

The congregation can't afford to address all of the issues at once.

"We're just like anybody else. We've got a small amount of money and a whole lot of needs," said Rudd Long, a member of the congregation's building committee.
